Ethem is an independent tattoo artist and illustrator. Starting building his personal brand, he needed a logo to “sign” his work and make his designs recognizable. Together we refined his concept, discovered his unique qualities as a professional, and created a visual identity that reflects his unconventional and versatile spirit.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
The given concept was the labyrinth. Ethem wanted his logo to be a symbolic representation of the complex and often confusing process of making art. After carefully researching the meaning and history of the labyrinth we ended up incorporating the labyrinth in the first letters of his name: ET.
Logotype & Logomark
FOLLOWING AN UNCONVENTIONAL ROUTE
Opposing the blackletter, bold fonts and abstract forms that are common to the tattoo industry, we chose minimalism, symmetry, and sophistication. That was to reflect Ethem’s professionalism and diligence, but also, to convey that tattoo art is a profession that strives for perfection, structure, and beauty. We complement his visual identity with a dark color palette and a clean sans-serif typeface.
